Day 2: Beyond The Card {Growing in Unity}

For today's Growing in Unity (GIU) (see my Day 1 post for the background on GIU) project I used two different sets of Unity stamps and scrapbooking paper to alter a plain white gift bag.  I LOVE  this sentiment and it makes this gift bag usable for many occasions.  Altering (and up-cycling) gift and paper bags is a great way to use all that scrapbooking paper you've been collecting.  Add some wonderful Unity stamps and you have a gift wrapping anyone would love to receive.

Supply List
Gift Bag:  You can up-cycle any store bag or purchase plain bags at Michael's.
Paper:  The patterned paper was first printed as part of the first American Crafts Dear Lizzy collection.  But I recently found it at Michael's under the Recollections brand.  Also used Bazzil & Hambly cardstock.
Dies:  Spellbinders cirlce & scallop dies for the gift tag

Don't forget to leave a comment today and everyday this week for a chance to win two Unity Itty Bitty stamps of your choice - a gift from Unity Stamp Co.

  2. Dies - Spellbinders (Samanttha Walker, Blossom Tag Accents)
  3. Paper - Creative Imaginations (IOD, Devotion)

Beauty In All Things - Unity Stamp Company Friends with Flare Friday Blog Hop

It's Friday which means it's time for  Unity Stamp Company's Friends with Flare Blog Hop!

Fell in love withe the sentiment and image on this stamp.  I used a Copic marker and watercolor paint to color it up.  The stamp image was a great compliment to the My Minds Eye Blush paper.  Here's what I used to pull this card together:
  1. Stamps - Unity (Beauty in all things - itty-bitty)
  2. Dies/Punches - Spellbinders (Lacey Circles, Standard Circles LG)
  3. Paper - My Minds Eye Two (Blush 6x6)
  4. Embellishments - Paper flowers form Recollections
  5. Ink - Ranger Tim Holtz Distress (Antique Linen)

Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks to Unity for sponsoring this blog hop.

Unity Stamps - Friends with Flare Friday

I love Unity Stamps just about as much as I love their weekly  Friends with Flare Blog Hop.  It inspires me to get out the stamps I love and use them!  This week I used this Life stamp for the first time and paired it with paper from Authentique.  Love the way it came out and can't wait to use that stamp again.

Unity Friends with Flair Blog Hop

This is my first time playing along with Unity Stamp Company's Friends with Flair blog hop.  It's a great way to foster community and win some prizes - now that's a win-win :-).

I had a few objects when I made this card:
  1. Leverage a card layout I found in the April 2011 Cards magazine
  2. Use my new Unity stamps from the wonderful sale they had a few weeks ago
  3. Use the old, but newly acquired Annalee paper from Prima
  4. Create a card that would put a smile on the face of a friend who has not been feeling well
  5. Have fun!
Having said that, I'm really pleased with the way this came out.
